Santa Barbara Education Foundation will join 99.9 KTYD Morning Mojo’s Lin Aubuchon and Bill Pesso on Oct. 10-11 for the Keep the Beat Radiothon to raise funds and instrument donations for Santa Barbara Unified School District music education programs.

During the two-day radio event, Santa Barbara Unified music teachers, aspiring student musicians, and local musicians will take to the airwaves to rally support for music education in local public schools.

Keep the Beat Radiothon will be broadcast live 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, from Zodo’s Bowling & Beyond and will feature live performances by the Brambles and classic rock band OutOfTheBlue.  Music lovers and supporters are invited to watch 99.9 KTYD’s broadcast and live performances. Volunteers will be on hand to take song requests and donations.

Instrument donations can also be dropped off at Nick Rail Music, 2801 De La Vina St.; Jensen’s Guitar and Music Co., 2830 De La Vina St.; and Pacific Premier Bank, 1035 State St., until Oct. 11.

Since 2003, the Santa Barbara Education Foundation has been keeping the beat, raising funds to pay for music instructors and collecting instruments for local school music programs. Last year’s Keep the Beat Radiothon resulted in more than 120 instruments and $12,000 in support of music education in local public schools.
