We are pleased to announce the hiring of Matthew Dittman as SB Unified’s new Director of Food Services. Dittman has been in the restaurant industry for nearly 20 years, mainly in the Santa Barbara area. He has already jumped into his role, actively helping our food services team to deliver 4,900 sack lunches to our students during our first week of school closure.

Along with his background in restaurant management, Dittman is a teacher of philosophy at Santa Barbara City College.

“Although in unusual and uncertain times, I am honored and eager to take on this role,” Dittman said. “Building upon the successes of the past, I will strive to continually improve SBUSD Food Services and provide all of our children with nutritious meals.”

Dittman is a great addition to the team and is already infusing the department with a spirit of positivity and collaboration, said Meg Jette, Assistant Superintendent Business Services. “Matt has great instincts and is a calm and good communicator, along with knowing the food service business very well having managed restaurants for almost 20 years.”
